Step out of your comfort zone!!
The greatest thing happened today!! There were about 6 people giving out FREE HUGS on the main campus near the UCC. It was so exciting; I couldn't help but smile the rest of the way to class! They had carboard signs and t-shirts with "FREE HUGS" written on them and they were so happy - bouncing around asking everyone if they wanted a free hug. I GOT ONE! I love it. I think it is one of the greatest concepts I've seen because it breaks down so many social barriers that shouldn't be there. People are meant to interact they shouldn't be afraid of each other or avoid contact all the time. I love that this was a bunch of strangers giving strangers hugs. People need to reach out to each other more. There is so much hurt in this world, you never know what a smile or casual converstation might do for someone - or what it could do for yourself. We've become an ipod generation. Everyone walks around with earphones on - I am a music junkie so I understand the love affair with music but if you always have tunes pumping in your ears you block out so many opportunities to talk with someone new, to have a human interaction. I would encourage everyone to look for ways to talk to someone you don't know - this is soo easy if you take the bus. You'll be surprised, people are more interested in talking than you think.

So true! I am a music junkie as you know but the thought of shutting out the world most of time is counter productive although not counter cultural.
Do you think people are afraid to be alone with themselves? their thoughts? fears?
Love ya
